Error display when connecting the shared printer “The credentials supplied are not sufficient to access this printer” this type of error mostly found in Windows XP (officially XP support has ended) which is shared from windows newly os windows 10 computer. So, friends we got a solution for this error, we have to add this shared printer manually by adding a local printer on Windows XP Computer
After sharing a printer, just go to the client PC ( Windows XP) follow some easy steps which are given below in the post.
To add the shared Printer On Windows XP PC, please follow some easy steps given here.
Step 1: First of all insert Printer CD
Step 2: Now go to the start and click on Printer and Faxes
Step 3: In printer and Faxes click add printer
Step 4: Add printer wizard will appear, here click on Next button
Step 5: Next you get two option
option 1: Local Printer Attached to this Computer
option 2: A network Printer, or a printer attached to another computer
select option first local printer attached to this computer and click Next button
Step 6: Select create a new port and Click on the next button
Step 7: Now the port name window will appear. In this window we have to give the path of the print server means that PC where the printer is installed and shared
The port name should be like this. \\computername\shared printer name
After entering port name just click on the ok button, now it will ask for the administrator username and password of the print server and enter the administrator username and password of win10 PC
Step 8: Now it will search for the printer driver. click Have Disk option (Ref. step 1)
Step 9: Click on the Browse button then browse my computer and open printer CD
Step 10: In CD find the Autorun.inf file (File name can be changed for different printers but you have to select only a file named with .inf extension ) select.inf extension file and click open and click the Next button
Step 11: It will ask Do you want to keep the existing driver or use the new one? select Replace existing driver and then click on the next button
Step 12: Printer name dialog box will appear just keep as it is the default name and click on the Next button
Step 13: Now it will ask for a Test print. select no and click on next button
Step 14: Just copy the driver files from the CD
Now you are done just click on finish button after completing a copy of drivers.
